WEEK 2: June 24th – June 27th

AM Grammar Greatness – 1st-2nd
Help your child improve their reading, writing and conversation by achieving the grammatical skills necessary for 1st and 2nd grade! This class will introduce the fundamentals of grammar including the basic parts of speech, sentence structure, capitalization, and punctuation. Fun activities will not only keep the students engaged but will also help them understand the function of concepts. By the end of this course, they’ll be bound for greatness! *English Proficiency Required.

PM Picturesque Poetry – 2nd-5th
Discover the beauty of poetry! Come be inspired to create a written connection with your artistic emotions. Students will learn various types of poetry while writing and illustrating their own works of art. *English Proficiency Required.

PM Phonics & Writing  – JK-1st
Increase your child’s phonics and writing skills with hands-on activities. Students will strengthen these skills through fun-filled songs and center-based peer lessons. Children will practice vowel sounds, consonant sounds and blends and participate in spelling lessons. They will create their own sight word cards and practice writing complete sentences through journal prompts. *English Proficiency Required.

WEEK 4: July 8th – July 11th

PM Writing Wizards – JK/K
Students will work on concepts that meet Kindergarten Writing Standards; use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to compose varied pieces (opinion, informative, sequenced narrative), use mapping to organize thoughts, organize ideas using pre-writing activities, focus on content not conventions, and see oneself as a writer. *English Proficiency Required.

PM Writer’s Workshop – 1st-2nd
This writing class will not only strengthen campers’ skills, but it will also foster a love of writing in a fun, encouraging environment. Because this class will focus on writing using a voice, campers will draw inspiration from creative projects done inside the class such as painting and crafting. Each student will also keep a writing journal which will be used daily. Comparison writing activities from the start of camp until the end will allow parents to see the wonderful progress made by their campers. *English Proficiency Required.

PM The Grammar Games – 3rd-5th
Welcome to the Grammar Olympics! The events are capitalization, punctuation, spelling, and word usage, and your goal is to Go for the Gold! All week we will train our memory muscles with capitalization rules, punctuation guidelines, and spelling strategies. Then students will compete in fun and interactive games to beat their former scores in each event and game. Go for Grammar Gold in the Grammar Games! *English Proficiency Required.

WEEK 7: July 29th – August 1st

PM Printing Powers & Fine Motor Skills – JK/K
Students will practice their printing using both uppercase and lowercase letters. This class will focus on proper formation, letter spacing, neatness, size, and consistency. A variety of tools including sand, yarn, crayons, watercolor paint, shaving cream, chalk, and glue will add fun and excitement to the class as students perfect their skills. This camp is most useful for students who would like to improve their fine motor skills and penmanship. *English Proficiency Required.

WEEK 8: August 5th – August 8th

AM Bright Writers – JK/K
Students will work on writing concepts that meet grade level writing standards. They will practice writing with a purpose. Students will use a combination of drawing and dictating to organize thoughts and focus on content to begin to see oneself as a bright writer! *English Proficiency Required.

AM Junior Journalist – 1st-2nd
Junior journalism offers students an opportunity to increase their creativity, process their feelings, and communicate their ideas on paper. Join us as we explore fun and thought-provoking topics that will help your child gain new personal insight and broaden the perspective of the world around them. *English Proficiency Required.

AM Writing Beyond the Classroom – 3rd-5th
This class will focus on creative writing in fiction, poetry, drama, and personal
narratives. Students will develop and reinforce descriptive writing, personal expressions, vocabulary, and word choice, how to write for pleasure, dramatic and poetic form, and journalistic writing. We’ll have performance, interactive group work, and writing games. A personal decorative writing journal will be created for students to use as a continued source to practice their writing skills throughout the summer. *English Proficiency Required.

WEEK 10: August 19th – August 22nd

PM Cursive Club – 2nd-4th
Students will practice their cursive penmanship using both uppercase and lowercase letters. This class will focus on proper formation, the connection of the letters, neatness, size, consistency, and the natural slant of cursive lettering. A variety of tools including sand, yarn, crayons, watercolor paint, shaving cream, chalk, and glue will add fun and excitement to the class as students perfect their skills. This camp is most useful for students who have not yet learned how to read or write in cursive, as well as students who would like to improve their fine motor skills and penmanship. *English Proficiency Required.
