Week 8 August 3-8 Home / Camp & After School / Specialty Camps / Week 8 AM Sessions (9:00 am–12:00 pm): Little Lego Architects (JK–3rd Grade) Get ready to build, design, and create! In this hands-on camp, young engineers will explore the exciting world of architecture and construction using Legos. Each day, campers will take on fun building challenges; like designing tall towers, strong bridges, and creative structures, while learning the basics of balance, shapes, and teamwork. With imagination as their blueprint, students will have a blast bringing their ideas to life and sharing their amazing creations with friends by the end of the week! Grammar Garden (JK–1st Grade) Watch your language skills grow! In this fun, hands-on camp, young learners will explore the building blocks of grammar through stories, songs, and interactive games. Campers will “plant” parts of speech, “grow” sentences, and nurture their reading and writing skills in a playful, garden-themed environment. With creativity and imagination blooming all week long, students will gain confidence in their early literacy skills while having tons of fun! Grammar Greatness (2nd–3rd Grade) Help your child improve their reading, writing and conversation by achieving the grammatical skills necessary for 2nd and 3rd grade! Join Mrs. Owens as she introduces the fundamentals of grammar including the basic parts of speech, sentence structure, capitalization, and punctuation. Fun activities will not only keep the students engaged but will also help them understand the function of concepts. By the end of this course, they’ll be bound for greatness! Volleyball (4th–8th Grade) Does your child enjoy playing volleyball? Enjoy a week full of fun inside the gym, practicing and perfecting your child’s bump, set, and spike! This camp will help to improve coordination skills in a positive learning environment made for all levels. Children will learn proper stance, proper footwork for spiking the ball, diving, how to serve (under and overhand), and how to receive the ball. This is a great summer camp to get ready for volleyball season. HOPE’s Chocolate Factory (4th–8th Grade) Step into a world of sweetness and creativity! In this hands-on cooking camp, students will explore the art of working with chocolate as they melt, mix, and decorate their way through a variety of tasty treats. Campers will learn basic kitchen skills and food safety while making goodies like chocolate-dipped fruits, candies, and baked creations. With a dash of teamwork and a sprinkle of imagination, this camp is the perfect recipe for a fun (and delicious!) summer adventure! ALLERGY ALERT: Please note, the camp recipes contain gluten, dairy, nuts, and eggs. Summer Souvenirs (JK–3rd Grade) Create lasting memories with Summer Souvenirs! In this arts and crafts camp, students will craft unique, handmade keepsakes to capture the essence of their summer. From painted treasures to fun, personalized projects, each creation will serve as a reminder of a fantastic summer filled with creativity and fun! The Bubble Lab (JK–5th Grade) Join Mrs. Prince in The Bubble Lab, where science meets fun! Dive into the fascinating world of bubbles as you create your own bubble solutions, design unique wands, explore the art and science behind bubbles, and even learn how to make bouncing bubbles. Get ready for hands-on experiments and bubbly excitement! PM Sessions (1:00 pm–4:00 pm): Fairy Tale Garden (JK–3rd Grade) Step into a storybook world where imagination grows! In this hands-on, project-based learning camp, students will explore classic fairy tales through art, science, and design challenges. Each day, campers will bring stories to life by building miniature gardens, designing character-inspired creations, and completing themed STEM activities. From constructing castles to planting enchanted seeds, children will use creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving to make their own fairy-tale worlds bloom! Summer Art Workshop (JK–5th Grade) Does your child love expressing themselves through art? In this class, young artists will explore a variety of creative techniques, including watercolor, layered tempera, mixed media, and unique materials, to craft one-of-a-kind masterpieces. With methods designed to inspire imagination and individuality, this class encourages every child to let their creativity shine! Run a Pizza Shop (4th–6th Grade) Looking for an engaging and challenging project-based learning task to enrich your child? This is a perfect math challenge for students who need a challenge or enrichment, and they’ll love getting to work within a budget to “purchase” ingredients for their pizza parlor. Students will practice many math skills while learning to work within a budget. They’ll finish the project by selling and serving pizza on Thursday. Scribble to Script (1st-3rd Grade) Join Mrs. Owens for a week of fun and focused handwriting practice! Whether your child is improving their printing or mastering cursive, this camp is perfect for building confidence and skills in penmanship. Mrs. Owens specializes in helping students excel in this area, making it an ideal choice for all students—especially those new to Heritage Oak. Let’s make handwriting a success! In addition, they will explore beginning computer programming concepts through block coding, fun coding activities, and coding skill-building apps such as Scratch Jr. and Tynker. Fashion School: Wearable Wonders (2nd–5th Grade) Step into the world of creative fashion design! In this hands-on camp, students will transform everyday materials, including recycled and found objects, into unique wearable art. Campers will explore texture, color, and design as they experiment with combining different elements to craft accessories and imaginative fashion pieces. From bold statement jewelry to runway-ready creations, this camp celebrates creativity, sustainability, and self-expression through art and design!
