Middle School Minds: Digital Photography (6th–8th Grade) Embark on a visual adventure and capture the world through your lens! This course will equip you with the fundamental skills of digital photography, from mastering your camera’s functions to crafting stunning compositions. You’ll explore the limitless possibilities of visual storytelling as you experiment with different techniques and styles. Grasp the basics of digital photography, including exposure, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and lighting. Develop your artistic eye and learn to compose compelling images with photo walks. You will participate in guided lighting workshops learning how to bounce light, use reflected light to spotlight, and enhance your subjects without digital filters. Build a Farmer’s Market Street Fair (JK–8th Grade) Have you ever wished you could have your own stall at a Farmer’s Market or Street Fair? In Mrs. Bernard’s Build a Farmer’s Market Camp, students will create their own Farmer’s Market by preparing signs and stalls and selling REAL crafts and goods at our Farmer’s Market, which will take place on the last day of camp! Campers will also learn about how food grows and is harvested from a REAL farmer who will visit the class to tell us about their job! Behind the Scenes: Theater Production (4th–8th Grade) Step behind the scenes and discover the magic of backstage production in this exciting camp with Miss Kyte! Students will craft props, design sets, and learn the technical side of theater, including working with microphones, audio, and lighting. This hands-on experience is the perfect opportunity to help set the stage for the upcoming play, Frozen Jr. Join us for a week of creativity and teamwork as we bring the show to life! New! Novel Study (2nd–3rd Grade) Join Mrs. Paramo for an immersive week of reading and discovery! Students will dive into a teacher-selected novel with a fully integrated and creative curriculum designed to bring the story to life. Throughout the week, campers will explore detailed comprehension questions, build vocabulary, analyze story elements, complete exciting projects, and engage with fun worksheets. Each student will also receive their own copy of the novel to keep. With Mrs. Paramo’s passion for teaching and storytelling, this camp is sure to spark a love for reading! English proficiency required. New! Cupcake Craze (JK–2nd Grade) Join us for a sweet adventure in the new Cupcake Craze camp! Students will learn the art of decorating cupcakes, while exploring fun techniques to make their creations as beautiful as they are delicious. From adding unique designs and toppings to their cupcakes as well as learning the art of culinary presentation, this camp is perfect for budding bakers with a creative flair. Get ready to use your imagination to create beautiful masterpieces and take home your cupcakes to share! Please note, the camp recipes contain gluten, dairy, nuts, and eggs. Reading with a Purpose (1st Grade) Join Mrs. Owens, who has designed this class to help students delve into texts to better identify, interpret, and infer using a variety of literary strategies. Her tailored lessons will provide a wonderful environment for students to receive differentiated instruction to improve their reading skills for the upcoming school year. Topics include analyzing text structure, understanding the author’s purpose, drawing inferences, and identifying context clues. English proficiency required. Campers will practice special strategies, engage in daily drills, and participate in fun activities designed to help them confidently master their facts. By solidifying these skills now, students will improve accuracy and be better prepared to tackle multi-digit multiplication and division. Get ready for a week of focused learning and math success! English proficiency required. New! Tech Talk (2nd–3rd Grade) Get ready to shine on stage! This camp focuses on building and delivering professional presentations using Keynote and PowerPoint. Students will gain hands-on experience with technology while developing confidence in public speaking. Ceramics (3rd–8th Grade) Clay, glaze, paint, and new friends will make up this week of creative artistry as campers explore the stages of clay piece production. With having our very own kiln right here on campus, campers will be able to decorate cups, plates, bowls, etc., with paint and glaze, and then it will be fired on-site and ready to go home to be shared with family members! Sum Fun (JK/K) It’s time to have “sum” fun! This math camp was designed to allow students ample opportunity to increase their skills with addition. Addition in the early education years lays a solid foundation for children to be successful in many other mathematical concepts that they will encounter. Students will take part in daily math drills, math games, centers, and so much more! English proficiency required. Kid Presidents: Build a Nation (K–8th Grade) Are you the future president of the United States? If so, Mrs. Bernard wants YOU to join this popular camp. In our Kid Presidents – Build a Nation camp, the citizens of our country will vote on a name and flag for our special country, and we will elect officers to run our nation, including a president! THEN the fun begins: We will build our new land out of cardboard, plenty of paint, props, and some good old-fashioned hard work! Once our land is built, our nation will be open for business! Teachers and students from Camp Heritage Oak will be welcomed as a grand finale to tour our very own special place. Campers will learn all about cities, important jobs, counting money, working toward a common goal and being a part of the community. This is a chance for your child to dive into his or her own imagination, develop critical thinking skills, and learn what it takes to make a city run. It’s the perfect combination of learning and fun!
