AM Sessions (9:00 am–12:00 pm): Reading with a Purpose (1st Grade) Week 5 (July 14–17) Join Mrs. Owens, who has designed this class to help students delve into texts to better identify, interpret, and infer using a variety of literary strategies. Her tailored lessons will provide a wonderful environment for students to receive differentiated instruction to improve their reading skills for the upcoming school year. Topics include analyzing text structure, understanding the author’s purpose, drawing inferences, and identifying context clues. English proficiency required. New! Novel Study (2nd–3rd Grade) Week 5 (July 14–17) Join Mrs. Paramo for an immersive week of reading and discovery! Students will dive into a teacher-selected novel with a fully integrated and creative curriculum designed to bring the story to life. Throughout the week, campers will explore detailed comprehension questions, build vocabulary, analyze story elements, complete exciting projects, and engage with fun worksheets. Each student will also receive their own copy of the novel to keep. With Mrs. Paramo’s passion for teaching and storytelling, this camp is sure to spark a love for reading! This fun-filled camp combines singing and learning to help students master new and familiar phonics skills. Kids will perform with a microphone, create exciting performances, and build confidence—all while rocking their way to stronger reading foundations. Let’s make learning a hit! English proficiency required. Readers Theater (1st–2nd Grade) Week 9 (August 11–14) Become a reader’s theater superstar! In this fun and exciting camp with Mrs. Owens, students will strengthen their reading fluency skills by practicing and performing a reader’s theater script. Students will get different roles and work together in groups to work on their expression, eye contact, and presentation skills. They will build their confidence and have fun creating props and backdrops to go with their stories. At the end of the week, their stories will be brought to life for their reader’s theater performance! English proficiency required. PM Sessions (1:00 pm–4:00 pm): Rockstar Readers (1st–2nd Grade) Week 1 (June 16–20) Studies have shown that children who do not read over summer can lose up to three months of progress! Mrs. Owens has designed this class to help them stay refreshed with their reading fluency and comprehension skills. Each day will incorporate a new genre and will give the students an opportunity to explore character traits, practice predicting, recognizing connections, and making inferences. Keep their minds active and enroll today! There will be NO camp sessions on Thursday, June 19 due to the Juneteenth holiday. Camp will instead be open on Friday, June 20.
