Academy Camps for middle school students, we are offering a brand-new series of classes exclusively for middle schoolers. Each week will feature a fresh theme designed to engage and inspire. Whether your child is interested in cooking, design, media, technology, or exploring new passions, there is something for everyone! Learn More. Preschool/Pre-K Specialty Camps For a more focused learning experience, our older preschool and Pre-K students may join H.O.P.E. Academy. This program offers engaging classes Monday through Thursday, where children will dive deeper into a specific subject. Each three-hour class gives children the chance to explore their interests and expand their knowledge in a fun and interactive way. This camp is designed for children ages 3 to 4 years old. All children must be fully potty trained. Week 1 AM Session: Learning Through Legos Ages: PS/PK Legos are not only fun to play with, but they are also fun to learn with too! This camp will cover language and math skills in a way that the children won’t even realize they are learning! We will count, sort, build, and play our way through our own Legoland at Heritage Oak. PM Session: Come Write Under the Sea Ages: PK Only This ocean life-themed camp will explore all things writing! Your child will enjoy hands-on activities that will help to fine-tune their writing skills for school. We will work on proper pencil grip, proper strokes, letter formation, and basic fine motor too. We will make it fun and engaging by incorporating a fun ocean theme! Week 2 AM Session: New! Tiny STEM Engineers Ages: PS/PK Campers will be building through creativity and inclusion of science experiments! In this exciting class we will be taking critical thinking skills and creativity to a new level with fun STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) activities that go along with the books we will be reading throughout the week. Math games, science experiments, building, and much more! PM Session: New! Toy Story Math: You’ve got a friend in HOPE! Ages: PK Only Campers will engage in Toy Story themed math activities. Children will complete and explore math related centers that make them “reach for the sky!” Come join Woody and his friends as we focus on numbers, 1:1 correspondence, and counting! Week 3 AM Session: New! Read It & Eat It Ages: PS/PK Campers will begin to understand the true meanings of classic literature selections as they listen to stories, engage, and ask questions. They will then extend this process into a fun and tasty cooking and art project! PM Session: The Power of Printing (Writing/Fine Motor Skills) Ages: PK Only Students will practice their printing using both uppercase and lowercase letters. This class will focus on proper formation, letter spacing, neatness, size, and consistency. A variety of tools including sand, yarn, crayons, watercolor paint, shaving cream, chalk, and glue will add fun and excitement to the class as students perfect their skills. This camp is most useful for students who would like to improve their fine motor skills and penmanship. Week 4 AM Session: New! Little Dancing Huskies Ages: PS/PK Dance camp will introduce the magic of jazz, ballet, and hip hop. Dancers will also enjoy arts and crafts and fun games. They will learn gross motor skills, discipline, and memorization while learning a new routine. Join us for a fun-filled week of movement and creativity! PM Session: 1,2,3 Count with Me Ages: PK Only Have a blast this summer as you learn all about numbers! In this class, students will explore new concepts with numbers and math in a fun way. They will engage in number recognition while practicing fine motor skills and gross motor skills. They will be learning while working on fun activities that will spark or reignite an interest in math while in a fun classroom environment. Week 5 AM Session: Counting with Dinosaurs Ages: PS/PK Students will sharpen their math skills while using manipulatives, learning centers and games to practice counting, addition, subtraction, measuring and patterning all during this “Dyno-mite” week. We will use all things prehistoric to create a fun and adventurous environment of learning and hands-on fun! PM Session: Building Blocks of Pre-K Ages: PK Only Let’s get ready for Pre-K! Campers will be introduced to a variety of Pre-K skills throughout this fun week. We will review preschool concepts, spend time on writing skills, and get to know new friends! They will practice phonemic awareness, learn to blend sounds to make words, find mastery with numeracy, and build their prewriting muscles through fun and engaging activities. Your camper will explore all things Pre-K while preparing for this new big step! Week 6 AM Session: ABC Rock Ages: PS/PK If your child enjoys music, this is the camp for them. We will learn about various instruments, sing songs, differentiate different styles of music, dance together, and even learn about the history of rock music. Each day, we will also get to explore instruments. We will learn our letters and phonics incorporated in our music time and following activities! PM Session: Fun With Phonics Ages: PK Only Children will begin to read and write by learning the sounds of letters. We will focus on several different sounds each day and have a magical time learning through hands-on phonics centers. They will be introduced to rhyming as well as ending sounds as they navigate through this fun phonics adventure! Week 7 AM Session: Alphabet Art Ages: PS/PK Painting, collaging, pastels, printmaking, and much more will be enjoyed during this hands-on week of art and literacy fun. Each child will be exposed to and use a variety of art mediums to create their own set of alphabet cards. Engaging phonemic awareness activities will provide additional learning opportunities, perfect for incoming Pre-K students. PM Session: Camping our Way to PK Ages: PK Only Nothing says summer like going on a fun camping trip. During this week, we will get to explore different state parks, engage in fun, hands-on activities, crafts and games–all encompassed around a camping theme. Activities will include making friendship bracelets, “fishing” for words, building binoculars, sensory bags, and of course new songs! Join us as we learn new skills and “camp” under the stars! Week 8 AM Session: New! Flying Through Phonics – Superhero Style Ages: PS/PK Students unite! Our little superheroes will learn fundamental phonics concepts that will prepare them for our Preschool and Pre-K curriculum. They will review letters and their sounds through a variety of fun filled centers and activities. There will be crafts, writing practice, as well as whole group activities to keep our campers engaged. We will use learning materials and play games to make learning phonics skills a blast. Join us for this “super” fun specialty camp! PM Session: Pre-K Here I Come Ages: PK Only There is nothing better than being prepared. Your almost Pre-K child will love this fun week of camp getting ready for all things Pre-K. This will include reviewing listening skills, following two-step directions, becoming familiar with some of the HOPE Pre-K routines (including the Pledge of Allegiance), and of course making some new friends. We will introduce them to the Pre-K Lesson Table structure, go on their first “field trip” to the school library, and cover some introductory guided reading strategies. Give your child that extra boost of confidence by enrolling them in this fantastic readiness camp. Week 9 AM Session: New! Little Husky Ninja Warrior Obstacle Course Ages: PS/PK Ninja Warrior Training is a fun way for kids to learn and improve their speed, strength, and agility. They get to be active, learn new skills, and build confidence. This program is designed for your little ones who are interested in being part of a team and learning about physical fitness. PM Session: Sight Word Safari Ages: PK only Get ready to embark on a wild journey! This camp will introduce your child to the “POPCORN” word list (high frequency word list) that we use all year in Pre-K. The students will get plenty of exposure and repetition by finding, identifying, and labeling these words! Join us for a fun week as we “hunt down” these newly-learned words. Week 10 AM Session: New! Under The Sea (Art, Reading, Science) Ages: PS/PK Join us as we explore the depths of our vast ocean by learning about animals, layers of the sea, and all things aquatic! We will incorporate fine motor activities, science exploration, creativity, and teamwork all while engaging in fun centers and activities. Come join us for a “whale of a time”!
