Preschool Home / Academics / Preschool Learning One Year Ahead from the Very Start In our warm and caring environment, our youngest students grow in many ways. They learn in small groups with our loving and experienced teachers who celebrate each child’s success. Our students learn one year ahead of their grade level, giving them a strong start in school. Every day, our staff teaches good manners and positive social skills. Our Preschool has two levels – Beginning and Intermediate. Children may join preschool when they are 2.5 years old (by September 1st) and potty independent. Learning is fun with hands-on activities, as well as small group lessons. Our students explore an advanced curriculum featuring language arts, math, science, social-emotional learning, and social studies. They also build strong gross motor skills by dancing, playing outdoor games, and joining in organized activities. At age 4, our Pre-K students enjoy an interactive classroom that prepares for kindergarten. They learn to read, complete simple math problems, and more! Children continue to grow in the academic areas listed above, and even start learning French! One of our hallmarks is our focus on performing arts. Almost every month, our students prepare a song, poem, or skit to perform on stage for their families. This helps our students feel confident, express themselves, and build strong communication skills that will help them succeed as they grow. They discover fun facts about famous landmarks, foods, languages, music, and more from all over the world. Smart Start also includes weekly science experiments. These activities help our students learn how to ask questions, solve problems, and think like young scientists. Whether a child dreams of becoming a doctor, lawyer, teacher, inventor, or business owner, this program helps to build strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills for the future. Frequently Asked Questions How are children divided into classes? Our classes are divided by age. Children who are 2.5 years old by September 1st are in our Beginning Preschool program. Children who are 3 years old by September 1st will attend our Preschool program. Children who are 4 years old by September 1st will attend Pre-K. Does my child need to be potty trained to attend? All students must be potty independent in order to attend our school. They must be in underwear (not Pull-ups). We ask that all students keep a change of clothes at school just in case they are not able to make it to the restroom in time. We understand that children may have occasional accidents. Does my child need to take a nap? Our license requires that Beginning Preschool and Preschool students must try to nap if they are staying at our school between the hours of 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm. There is a non-napping option for Pre-K students who no longer require a rest period.
