Week 3: July 1st – July 3rd

AM Build a Book – JK-2nd
Inspired by beloved children’s books, this class will allow students to explore various strategies to deeply understand a literature selection. The story will capture the students’ attention while giving them an opportunity to study story elements, explore character traits, and practice predicting, drawing connections, and making inferences. Students will also participate in various art and writing projects such as making puppets used to recreate the story, designing their own version of the book, and writing the story by hand. Students will also explore the character lessons displayed in the book and learn about fairness, respect, responsibility, caring, and compassion. *There will be NO class on Thursday due to the 4th of July Holiday. Specialty class will run on Friday. *English Proficiency Required.

AM Solar System Science – 2nd-5th
Learning about the Solar System has never been so much fun! The students will read passages, use organizers, conduct character studies (Sally Ride and Neil Armstrong), use comprehension and connection activities, participate in a slideshow presentation, complete a planet flip book, and so much more! Many interactive activities using technology will round out this exciting class. ** There will be NO class on Thursday due to the 4th of July Holiday. Specialty class will run on Friday. *English Proficiency Required.

AM Express Yourself – 3rd-8th
Sometimes, it is harder for us to say what we need to say, whether it be due to shyness or concern of our peers’ opinions. In Express Yourself, we will work on sharing in class by participating in community circles, learning active listening and kind responding skills, and participating in group and individual activities involving social emotional learning games. By the end of the course, students will feel more confident in their speaking and
sharing abilities and make new friendships over the week. They’ll also have a fun binder to bring home their newfound skills and crafts to remember what they learned in Express Yourself. ** There will be NO class on Thursday due to the 4th of July Holiday. Specialty class will run on Friday.

AM Circus & Magic Training – JK-8th
Are you ready for The Greatest Show? In circus and magic training camp, students will learn to be the ultimate performers by mastering illusions, magic, and the great art of circus performance! Making objects disappear, taming (pretend) animals, and jumping through actual hoops are all a part of our incredible show! On the last day of camp, our performers and magicians will amaze and dazzle their family members with a circus
show for all ages! Don’t miss the chase for your little magician or acrobat to show what they can do at The Greatest Show: Circus & Magic Training! **Please note that this camp will be offered in the morning and afternoon during this week. Students are welcome to join both sessions, but the activities will be the same. * There will be NO class on Thursday due to the 4th of July Holiday. Specialty class will run on Friday.

AM Little Lacrosse Athletes JK-3rd
Is your child ready to try a new sport? We are excited to be introducing lacrosse to our athletes this summer! Students will spend the week learning the fundamentals skills it takes to participate in this popular sport. In this fast-moving game, students will build their confidence on the field, work together as a team, and increase their endurance! No lacrosse experience is needed.

PM Reading Rocks – 1st-2nd
Make reading come to life! Discover the magic of combining children’s literature with the love of creative art! Each day the children will read a teacher selected story, complete a reading response and create a fun piece of art that expresses an important story element or character. Other focus areas include deciphering genre of text, studying character development, decoding author’s purpose.

PM Becoming an Author – 3rd-5th
This class is for aspiring authors who want to learn writing techniques to compose their own timeless story. Students will not only learn key elements of storytelling but will also learn the step-by-step process of creating a unique piece of literature. The children will gain confidence as they watch their ideas become crafted into a piece of written art. *There will be NO class on Thursday due to the 4th of July Holiday. Specialty
class will run on Friday. *English Proficiency Required.

PM STEM: Geology Rocks – JK-8th
Come join us as we learn about how Geology ROCKS! During our camp, we will explore the different types of rocks and fossils. Students will conduct STEM experiments involving rocks, learn how rocks form, and even create our own fossils! Students are guaranteed to have a “Rockin” good time! ** There will be NO class on Thursday due to the 4th of July Holiday. Specialty class will run on Friday. *English Proficiency

In this camp, we will prepare delicious French desserts that you will be able to take home and share with your family. Come and learn new French recipes, have fun baking with your friends and enjoy tasty and unique delicacies! No knowledge of French required.
